Scuttlebutt / Re: Discussion: Passing the torch or shutting down

Hi Mibbal,

I've already discussed such a solution with Yngmar. It seems he doesn't want to have any involvement as it would be a too great a personal risk as a volunteer for him. I am involved in several fora, so I do have an idea what it takes to run one. I think we should create a small team (starting with us two?) to manage the site completely. We thus can offer him to take over all tasks so he can step down.

Having a read-only archive would be a good and a bad thing. It will keep all the knowledge alive. But, as it is already very good populated in the search engines, it would make it for a new forum very difficult to create momentum.

Exactly , it works ok , but I believe is a factory mistake . Cause also the breaker on the panel is switching the neutral not the load .

I see what you mean, if you look at the socket that's unplugged, the orange blank is marked as N, and so all the N connections should be on that side of the plug.but on your photo they are the other way around. ?

Dear Yngmar, All

I would like to offer my help with supporting this forum. I can take over whole project, or just take care of technical part (+ domain ownership) and keep moderation with Yngmar owner or someone else who would like to.

Nobody credible has come forward with a serious offer to take over the whole thing, so it will still be shut down. I'll do a final backup before that. I hope to get a read-only archive up and running eventually, so our collected wisdom isn't lost.

Of course there's nothing stopping anyone from simply starting a new Bavaria Owners forum. If they do, I'd be happy to redirect there from here. Or maybe the BOA forums can be made available free of charge.

Hi , I changed the photo to compare easier
This is the rear view currently on my boat , brown ( L) is on the left hand and blue (N) on the right as you look from the rear view.
On the manual specifies rear view of the panel ( as you see it matches , 2 plugs on the top , 4 in the middle, 3 in the bottom) and has the N on the left hand side . If then I k not mistaken , the switch is switching the neutral not the load as it should .

Yes yes , I have already ordered a new one , but I was getting even with the heater unplugged and the switch off voltage between N and E at the plug so I opened the case to check everything . The mystery for me is that the diagram suggests L and N the opposite way, so I think that the heater switch is cutting the neutral not the load ?

don't forget its 240vAC not DC , you will get voltage showing between n +e as its fed from both N and L in an oscillating current  so there is no pos and neg as in a 12vDC system
apologies if you already know this, its just to maybe stop you getting a bit of a shock from it.

id that a diagram of the plug or the socket side of things, reason i ask is you could be looking at it from the wrong side, I've seen many truck 7 pin connectors done back to front when apprentice has had a go for the first time.
that would explain the wiring looking back to front to the drawing ?

I've just looked at the photo and diagram, its correct, brown is live.

Modifications & Equipment / fitting digital fridge thermostat
« Last post by Diverphil1 on February 20 2025, 15:34 »
morning all
I'm looking at fitting a new digital thermostat to the standard fridge, is it as simple as connecting the digital one to the pos and neg from the battery at the Danfoss controller pos and neg, then connecting the output to the C&T connections on the Danfoss unit instead of the original thermostat wires. then feeding the probe into the fridge and finding somewhere to put it?
I've read some of the previous topics from the search and ended up slightly confused.

also what is the favorite type of thermostat used, as most of the links are out of date and get a 404 error on amazon.
i was also looking for one with less than 7cm deep into the cupboard as there is already an unused "us" style socket i could take out and extend the hole but the depth behind it is only 7cm to the underside of the sink bowl
regards
Phil

Hi Yngmar,

as March is getting close, what are your feelings on handing the forum over?
