It is not clear if this is an extending spring or a retracting spring. Will the natural position of the spring be short or long? In other words, will it help with pulling or with pushing the platform?
Dear Keith, the natural position of the spring is long. So the Pressure is relieve. Your SVB-team.
I can see on your website that htere is a gas pressure spring for a Bavaria32 bathing platform. I have a Bavaria40 - is this the same spring?
Dear Paul, we are not sure, but we will check this for you. Please send us your Hull Identification Number to our: Bavaria@SVB.de // Then you will get a short offer. Your SVB-team.
Each spring has "power rating" - 1900N in this case, which is proper size for Cruiser 32. Check yours - it should be marked somehow on the original one. As the platform weight is different for each model - the spring can be different too.
Item Ref: 22815 Gas Pressure Spring. Is this the correct spring for a Bavaria 36 2011 model? If it is not can you give me details of the correct spring and the price. Is there a replacement teak mit for ths Bavari 36 Swimming platform. Thank you. Martin Brooks

Hello I gave Cruiser40 made 2011. My swimming platform no longer functions properly. Is item no 22815 correct? Do ı need anything else?

Thank you. Do you know/have the proper size for C40? How can I check since nothing is disassembled yet? Is it possible?
I don't know, but it should be marked on the spring. You can also try to ask Bavaria. Otherwise you need a whole hinge, which is more expensive. Anyway - please note that replacing just a spring is a really tricky job, sometimes it may be impossible if the original hinge is bent. It took me half day in C32 to get it done, including cutting the old spring into parts, as it was impossible to dismantle otherwise. With whole hinge it would be way easier & faster.
Sounds like it could be even more difficult or may be impossible to do it on the water. Anyhow thanks for your reply I will check with Bav and get back to you. If needed.
I had done it on the water. You just need to be stern-to, and - to be comfortable - two extra people (and some kind of lifting system - you can use halyard for this) to hold and secure, and flip swimming platform once you unscrew it.
Do you have a strut rated at 2300 N
Dear customer, please email: bavaria@svb.de in this case.
Is this the same spring used on a Bavaria 41 Cruiser - from 2013?
Dear customer, please email: bavaria@svb.de in this case.
Hi can I buy the Gas Pressure Spring for 41 Cruiser Swimming Platform - hull number DE-BAVJ41A0J314 and in which case can you please quote the correct part number. I found item #22815# on your website but it states it's for Bavaria Cruiser 32. In case the gas strut is not available can you please confirm the part number for the complete hinge assembly port & starboard? Could it be the #314920# and #314919# ?
Dear customer, please email: bavaria@svb.de for an offer. Thanks.
Does anyone know of an instruction video or information source on exactly how to take out the old gas pressure spring and replace with the new? It seems quite difficult without any prior knowledge on the technique. We have a 2015 Bavaria 33. Many thanks
I received the following advice by email from Bavaria: "To change the gas springs, the hull and bathing platform hinges are removed. Then the hinge is clamped in a vise so that the pin that holds the gas spring in the hinge can be removed and reinserted later." I am going to attempt this myself and will try to make a video as I go.
Hi David. How did it go with the replacement? I,m receiving my new springs tomorrow and I'm very interested in any tips regarding the operation :)
Hi Roger. I haven't attempted the replacement as yet as I need to devise a method of suspending the swim platform while removing the hinges. I considered using the dinghy davit, but even so, I am concerned about doing this over the water and might only attempt this project when we next haul out in August/September.
Okay, thank you for the answer. I'm pondering this right now and started thinking that lowering the platform onto my inflatable dinghy and let it rest there might be the easiest way to be able to get the job done. I'll also check my local marina tomorrow, maybe the've done it before. Have a nice summer.
I've finally completed the gas spring replacement and documented the process here: https://bavariayacht.org/forum/index.php/topic,3921.0.html
