Customers appreciate the drying function of the dehumidifier. They say it helps dry washing quickly while preventing condensation. It's excellent at drying rooms and drying clothes faster. The clothes drying facility works best if you have the clothes in the same room as the Ecoair. It is also great for drying clothes in the winter as they don't have a tumble dryer. Updated: returned due to leaks
Updated 2/1/24Spoke too soon. This DD1 didn't last five weeks. I've revised this review to knock off a couple of stars because it started leaking a few days ago and I'm returning it. I found it standing in a puddle – just as well I decided not to risk running it in a carpeted room. At first I thought I might have overlooked some water that had spilled on emptying because of the shallow tank, but it was the same every day after that. The tank wasn't overflowing, as you can see from the low level in the picture. Water seemed to be pooling in the tank space instead of the tank itself and running out from both sides. (The tank was fully in place and I couldn't find any cracks in the plastic.) So maybe what I thought was a spillage problem right at the start was actually the leak, and it might even explain some of the other performance issues. Two out of three dehumidifiers I've bought from this brand have had to be returned. I've now ordered a compressor model from another manufacturer.Original review (3 stars)This is the third Eco Air dehumidifier I've bought in the last few years. As the first one – a DC18 compressor model that's now been running pretty much daily since November 2016 – was so good,, I decided to buy Eco Air again a couple of years ago. That was a Vebo, but it had to be returned with a fault within days. I shelved the idea of a second machine for a while, but a few weeks ago I opted for for a desiccant type because the house is can get pretty cold.I always think less is more with appliances because too many bells and whistles equals more things to fail, but in this case, less really is less. There are so many things that could have been better, like including some basic features that my old machine has. I'm assuming this one isn't faulty (yet) but it's not something you can set and forget for a while like the old one. To be fair, I could see the dial was going to be guesswork before I bought it, so I bought a hygrometer to check what it was actually achieving, but the other issues only became apparent after running it for a while. If there's an engineering reason for any of its omissions, or I've missed some important point about using it, I really do want to know what they are, because I'd rather be wrong about this than regret how much I spent on it.Here's the comparison. The old DC 18 has a digital RH display, and an illuminated button to tell you the wall socket is switched on. You press that button to actually operate it. When it's full, it beeps and the flashing red light stays on until you clear it. Its tank is deep and narrow, so the water doesn't slop around when you remove it, and you can set your desired humidity in 5% intervals that you can easily see.The Simple desiccant model doesn't do any of that, it seems.Pros:* it's light and it has a proper handle* it's quieter than the compressor on the low setting (but I still wouldn't call it quiet – I can hear it two rooms away)* the louvre feature is usefulCons:* no power light, just an operating light, so you can't see if there's power to it when it's not active* no on-off switch – you just turn the dial to the lowest RH position, which might be fine for some but I want some indication that it's really off* unhelpful dial with just three broad ranges – a numbered one would have made it easier to set the right RH position (assuming that it's actually graduated and hasn't just got three fixed settings)* doesn't switch on or off when I expect it to – I used the hygrometer to work out roughly where 50% is on the dial, but sometimes the machine starts working at that RH, and sometimes it doesn't come on until it passes 60. Or it'll keep going down to 45.* the tank is broad and shallow, so when it's full (or even half-full) the water slops around no matter how carefully you remove the container* there's no audible warning or persistent indicator light for the tank – when you notice it's been silent for some time, you have to check if it's just standing by or if it's shut down because it's full, and the only way to do that with a red light that doesn't stay on is to turn the dial clockwise until the machine either starts up again or the red LED comes on* it doesn't appear to perform better than the DC18, even a cold roomI'm making allowances for the fact I've not had it long, so I'm likely to check it more often, but the inability to see the exact RH when it switches itself on or off, and the apparent inconsistency in when it does that, aren't going to be solved by getting used to it. I'm around all the time to keep an eye on it, but if I was working elsewhere, I doubt I'd leave it running unattended with the same confidence that I do with the old DC18.Whatever the reason for making the water tank the shape it is, wide and shallow containers are inherently unstable even before they're full, and that's not rocket science. Anyone who's tried to carry a washing-up bowl finds that out. The water level is very near the top of the tank and there are openings where the water can slop out. I find the tank too tightly fitted to pull out smoothly, so I've had to move the appliance to a tiled floor rather than risk soaking the carpet. I always have to wipe out the interior cavity when I've removed the tray.Summary: this machine has too many missing basics that I now realise matter quite a lot. For £235, I'd rather have had any one of those than a silver nano filter. When the DC18 finally goes to its reward, I'll buy a different brand to replace it. If they were still making that model, and to the original spec, I'd have been better off with another one of those.

Summary: Brilliant product, would recommend without hesitation

Why we bought it: We had suffered from bad condensation on the upstairs bedroom windows every Winter for the last few years (ours is a very old house but with double glazed windows and from what I've read this is often not a happy combination). Finally I decided to do something about it, other than having to have the windows open most of the day long during the Winter to keep on top of the situation. After the first night of using this it was unbelievable - the next morning there was virtually no condensation, and after the second night there was absolutely zero condensation. So I wish I had got this product sooner, it's incredible how much water it will draw out from your air. I couldn't believe it. The item itself is neat and compact and once you have your situation under control, the maintenance level is nice and quiet, and we have this machine on 24/7 and it's just outside the bedroom doors and it does not disturb sleep whatsoever. I now have the machine set to maintenance level, and it toggles between low and high (when more humidity is in the air that it needs to deal with), and at night time I just turn it right down to the one drip low setting and it's very very quiet but powerful enough to prevent any condensation on the windows whatsoever. So, the product is brilliant and a fantastic price for the quality of the item. We have also noticed that we set our central heating at a much lower temperature to achieve the same warmth in our house than we did before we had this machine, so it's saving us money on our gas central heating bills.

The main reason I have written this review, though, when I've never taken the time to write a review for anything else I've bought via Amazon before, is that the after-sales service is just out of this world....

After-sales service: If only every other company had the same quality of after-sales service as this one. I rang them immediately I received the item, for advice on which settings to use, given the layout of my house and our particular condensation problem, and received very helpful advice from the lady I spoke to. After a few days, the machine was still pulling loads of water from the air, even though we had had it set on the highest laundry setting to get on top of the problem. The information I had read about the product seemed to suggest that I should be able to turn the setting down after a few days, so I rang the company again, to ask for some advice on this, and a very helpful engineer/technical expert spent much time explaining to me in great detail the ins and outs of condensation problems and how the machine worked. From our discussion it soon became clear that ours was not a typical situation, which we already suspected!, and so we needed to adapt the settings accordingly - the condensation problem had built up over some years and also as ours is a 19th century house too, but with some unhelpful (for condensation) modernisations. I was advised to stay with the high laundry setting and ring back in a week and they would look at my situation again - and so it continued, and for a while I rang every week or couple of weeks, for further advice on how/when to alter the settings. Now that the situation is under control, and we are not emptying the machine so often, I no longer have my regular chats! It would be easy not to bother writing the review (and it has taken me far too long to do so! I got this machine back in November!), but I just wanted to thank the company for the excellent service I have had from them. I cannot praise the competence, knowledge and politeness of the staff at Ecoair enough.

Bought this dehumidifier as the dampness levels in my house have been rising lately due to excessively wet weather conditions and a broken boiler. I am most impressed with the volume of water extracted from the atmosphere and the noticeable drop in humidity especially in the kitchen.
It is very easy to set up and pretty quiet on the lower setting, I can't hear it over the radio. I recommend emptying the tank before it is full even if that means emptying it twice a day when drying laundry. I've considered buying another one for upstairs although it's light enough to carry up once the kitchen is down to 50% humidity. Much better than my old humidifier which was a condenser model and quite noisy

This dehumidifier is an absolute winner ! Well made...... and does all the things it claims to do !

This is my first "Desiccant" type unit , and for me , they are far superior for my needs when compared to the "Compressor" types of machine !
My 12 year old Ebac 2000e series finally became too noisy and the "extraction rates" had reduced over the years !

I decided to try the "Desiccant" type and am extremely happy I did ......Much quieter and very very efficient at removing excess moisture and a great deal lighter to move around !
These units work by drawind in moist air and passing it over a very slowly rotating wheel of dessicant material which dries the air before passing it back into the room as dry clean air ....the water collector on these units averages around 2 litre capacity and may require emptying twice a day when first used ...but as the unit balances the humidity levels , the extracted water amount will decrease proportionaly and it can be diverted to a drain point if you wish , and this totally eliminates manual emptying of the unit!

I have three digital " Hygrometer " units placed in various points in the house in order to check the humidity levels ....and the readings have dropp ed from 78% previously ....down to 47% to 53% after just two days running ! Wardrobes and cupboards are drier...... and when on "low setting " during the night , the sound level of the fan does not interfere with sleep (even when the unit is in a hallway just a metre away from the bedroom) !

A lot depends on the layout of each individual property and also the amount of existing dampness a home may initially have ....but I can honestly state that the early morning " Streaming wet windows" are totally clear each morning .....sticking doors are now opening freely ....and the dampness that usually could be seen on my conservatory furniture has disappeared as well !
Brilliant piece of kit and well worth buying

It took a while to get going but after a couple of days it was full of water and the bedroom, which is a large room feels much cooler … and the bedroom which is a large room feels much cooler. We collect about 2 L every two days already. It’s a small unit but it is doing a great job 🤩
